Trials complete on pilot Electric Arc Furnace27 May 2024, Published under Cement NewsThe UK-based Materials Processing Institute has recently completed successful trials of its pilot Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) for the UKRI Cement2Zero project. The trials have been developing and testing the use of end-of-life cement as an EAF flux to produce steel, whilst also capturing the slag to produce clinker to manufacture zero-emissions cement.
